3D product video instead of a shoot: when it pays

3D shows a product from any angle, in cutaway and in action, even before a sample exists. When 3D beats a shoot, what it needs and where it pays off.

In short. 3D video wins when filming is impossible or not enough: there's no sample yet, the device is large or complex, or you need to show a cutaway or the mechanism inside. The model is built once — then new clips, angles and catalogue shots from it cost less.

A regular shoot shows what the camera sees: surface, light, reflections. But for technical products, buyers often care about something else — what's inside, how it goes together, how it works. A camera can't show that. 3D can.

When 3D pays off better than filming

  • There's no sample yet. The model is built from drawings or detailed photos — you can show the product before production.
  • The sample is abroad or there's only one. No need to ship it to a studio.
  • You need to show what a camera can't: a cutaway, assembly, the working principle inside.
  • The device should be shown in place. We show it where it will stand, without a site visit.
  • You need a whole range. The same light and angles on every model — the catalogue looks consistent.

Our example: Prestigio Solutions

For Prestigio Solutions we created 3D presentations of interactive panels, tablets and other B2B devices. The task was to show design, functionality and key features from angles ordinary filming can't reach. The clips work in presentations for clients and partners, as a tool for managers in negotiations and in marketing materials. We also developed basic character animation.

Lesson. In B2B, video isn't a feed ad — it's an argument at the negotiating table. A cutaway and an animation of how it works often convince better than ten slides of specs.

What you need to start

  1. Drawings or detailed photos — from every side, with dimensions.
  2. What exactly to show — the key features people pay for and the parts that raise questions.
  3. Where the clip will be used — negotiations, website, trade show, catalogue. That sets the length and formats.

Will it look like a real shoot?

Yes, and often better: in 3D there's no bad light, no glare and no scratches on the sample. The same model also gives you still shots for presentations, the website and product pages — just like a product video for marketplaces.

3D vs AI: the difference

AI video generates a scene that "looks like" the idea — good for unusual advertising. 3D builds an exact model of your product from drawings: every part in place, dimensions correct. For technical and B2B products, where precision matters, that's essential. More on AI in AI video for business.

What it costs

On our price list a 3D presentation (model, animation, render, finished video) starts at €3,800. An additional clip on an existing model costs less, and a range of devices is priced individually. Prices exclude VAT.
